BACKPACKING Taiwan – Cherry Blossom Festival (Mar 11-14, 2017)

Taipei and Central Taiwan

While Taiwan may present an ultramodern face, spending time in this country will tell you that it still has the soul of China. Colonial buildings and temples line the streets of Taipei while skyscrapers and light-rail systems tower over the city. Expensive restaurants are all around yet night markets that serve the most sublime cuisine lure locals and visitors alike. Indeed, Taiwan has gone a long way from its days of colonial and martial rule and still it remains true to its core.

Certainly, Taiwan offers more but perhaps the oft stated reason for exploring Taiwan is sampling its superb food. Start your day off with the dimsum Xiao Long Bao, which can be found all around Taipei and let your feet lead the way in your cultural and gustatory quest.
